Dispatches from the field

The build log.

What’s happening on site. Short, honest notes from the job sites, posted as the work moves.

Newest first

The work, as it happens.

No polish, no spin. Just what we did on the ground, on real Hamilton streets, written down as we go. If you want to know what building the missing middle actually looks like day to day, this is it.

    Greensville

    Greensville keeps doing its homework.

The Greensville land keeps moving carefully through planning. Hydrogeology drilling is targeted for this summer, and the archaeology and environmental studies are underway. Twelve and a half acres, studied first, so whatever gets built belongs to the land it sits on.

    The Brow

The lights are on at The Brow.

This one is done. The first family is already home upstairs, and we are finishing the lower home for its own front door next. A tired house on the west mountain is now two homes, lived in, on an ordinary street. That is the whole idea, standing.

The Brow finished and occupied: a house-form home on an established West Mountain street, seen from the sidewalk in daylight.

    The Bench

Drywall is up at The Bench.

Right next door to The Brow, the three-home build hit drywall this week. Structure and mechanical are in, the rooms are reading as rooms now, and we are running the trades and the schedule ourselves, day to day. Finishing through the summer.
